08.04.2008 CER Barcelona 2008
... back

Brunn Racing ran two cars in the first CER race of the 2008 season at Barcelona. George Tuma and John Starkey shared a Porsche 3.0 RSR, while Philipp Brunn raced a Porsche built to 3.0 RS/4 spec. The weather was great and the grid was formed by 37 cars.

George and John had a troublefree run to 7th position in the GT2 class (16th overall) and were the 3rd Porsche to finish the race. They significantly improved the performance compared to last year and are lapping at the same speeds as the other Porsches. Philipp finished 4th in the GT2 class (10th overall), 1st Porsche. See results below.

The IROC RSR has been modified over winter for improve race track performance:

* 3.0 litre race engine
* springs and roll bars
* shock absorber settings
* tyre size and mixture
* ride heights, bump/rebound travel, bump steer
* low friction, low compliance bearings

The results are very promising. At Silverstone in 2007 the IROC RSR was approximately 8 seconds slower than the quickest BMW M1. The gap has now been reduced to less than 2 seconds. We are busy working on further improvements, but it will be difficult to get closer to the BMW M1 at the high speed track of Monza due to the lack of engine power. We are considering to build several engine and suspension kits for customers once the development has been finished.
